Antibacterial Evaluation of Some Plant Extracts Against Some Human Pathogenic Bacteria
The aqueous, different solvent extracts and isolated constituents of eight higher medicinal plants viz., Argemone mexicana, Caesalpinia coriaria, Decalepis hamiltonii, Euphorbia tirucalli, Leucas aspera, Phyllanthus amarus, Phyllanthus niruri, Tinospora cordifolia and Tribulus terrestris were screened in vitro for antibacterial activity by cup diffusion method against eleven human pathogenic ba...
متن کاملAntibacterial activity of Brazilian Amazon plant extracts.
Infections caused by multiresistant bacteria are a widespread problem, especially in intensive care units. New antibiotics are necessary, and we need to search for alternatives, including natural products. Brazil is one of the hottest spots in the world in terms of biodiversity, but little is known about the chemical and pharmacological properties of most of the plants found in the Amazon rain ...
متن کاملAntibacterial Activity of Medicinal Plant Extracts
The present study aimed at evaluating the in vitro antimicrobial activity of methanolic extracts of some medicinal plants against Escherichia coli, Salmonella Typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus sp. The methanolic extract of Caryophyllus aromaticus presented the highest anti-S. aureus activity and was effective against all bacterial strains tested.
متن کاملIn Vitro Antibacterial Activity of Several Plant Extracts and Oils against Some Gram-Negative Bacteria
Background: Medicinal plants are considered new resources for producing agents that could act as alternatives to antibiotics in the treatment of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial activity of 28 plant extracts and oils against four Gram-negative bacterial species. Methods: Experimental, in vitro, evaluation of the activities of 28 plant extract...
متن کاملAntibacterial Activity of Extracts from Some Bryophytes
The antimicrobial activity of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of 11 Bryophyta species and 9 Marchantiophyta species collected in Latvia was tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus. The extract of Lophocolea heterophylla inhibited the growth of B. cereus, but none of the tested extracts inhibited the growth of E. coli. 70% of bryophyte species demonstrated certa...
